Welcome Skylar Jones to SBES

We are proud to announce Skylar Jones as the new Youth Pastor of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Students are invited to Youth group and will enjoy hanging out, playing games, and learning to serve others while they connect with Christ and one another. Youth group meets on Sundays in Canterbury from 6-7:30 PM for students in grades 6-12.
Skylar also leads one of the advisory groups of about ten students during Monday Chapel once a month. In Advisory, middle school students are able to discuss any concerns or problems they’re having and hear how they are doing in their classes. In addition, Skylar teaches Christian Education to 7th grade students with Mr. Rodriguez and Deacon Nancy Kline.

Skylar was born in California and remembers having an untraditional, chaotic upbringing. He never had the opportunity to meet his Dad, and moved around a lot with his mother and younger brother. By the time he was 15, he had lived in Arkansas, California, and Georgia. He loves all types of music, with the exception of country. Skylar came to love the Lord through his experiences with his local youth group in Georgia, which actually came by a bus with an enticing sound system. From his experiences there, he became very close with two youth pastors who opened the door to his relationship with Christ. This personal relationship developed further when Skylar was in college. As early as 19, he served on church boards.

In 2008 through a ministry at Berry College, Skylar met Amanda, who became his wife in 2013.

We welcome Skylar and Amanda to our St. Barnabas Community. He has a passion to help youth form lifelong relationships with Christ. If you have any questions, feel free to email him at youthministry@stbarnabaschurchdeland.org.
