3 Reasons Homeschool Families Transition To Private School

3 Reasons Homeschool Families Transition To Private School
There are lots of great reasons that families choose to get into homeschooling and just as many reasons they may choose to get out of it. And once you’ve made the difficult decision to enter homeschooling journey how do you know what to do next? There are plenty of different schooling options from private or public school, charter schools, and even online schooling. But which option makes your child’s transition out of homeschooling the most successful?
Here are some reasons we think private school is an easy transition for most homeschool families:

1. Your Child Isn’t Thriving
Not all children are the same. You may have two, three, or four different children who all learn in different ways and need different levels of support. And if you’re not an experienced teacher you may not be able to provide all of your children the level of education that they need. How do you know this is true? You’ll know when your children are no longer able to thrive academically. This may happen to your child who excelled in reading at an early age, mastered counting, but is now struggling with algebra. Or perhaps you have a child who has struggled academically from day one. In both cases we see students thrive in the high-touch environment afforded to them in private education.

2. She’s Asked To Go To Traditional School
Furthermore, you may have a child who asks to go to a traditional school. Maybe she is an extremely social young woman and thrives in that environment with lots of other children. Or perhaps her best friend next-door is attending traditional school and she wants to have the same experience. Either way, there may come a day when your daughter or son request to transfer from your homeschooling environment to a private school.

3. You’re Ready
This can be the hardest one to admit to. You’ve dedicated years to your children's education and given up a lot of opportunities all with a smile on your face. But for some parents there comes a time when you’re ready to move on. There’s nothing wrong with admitting that you’re ready to move on. Maybe it’s time for you to go back to your career or maybe you just need a little bit of alone time during the day either way, when parents ready to make that change they often find that private education is the right next step.

At the end of the day what’s most important is that you choose the type of learning environment in which each of your children can thrive. We frequently see families make very successful and smooth transitions from a homeschooling environment into a more traditional private school environment.
