Meet our two new teachers and be impressed by their educational histories and accolades. SBES welcomes Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Lally to our school family with thankfulness for their gifts and enthusiasm for promoting excellence in our students.
Tamara Parker, who joins SBES in Computer Education, has returned to DeLand after teaching a variety of subjects and becoming knowledgeable in the Space Program. From there, she joined the opening staff of the Challenger Space Center of Arizona as Public Programs Director and then completed a graduate internship as a research historian at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. Mrs. Parker began her formal education experience as a residential instructor at Oakland School in Keswick, Virginia. She returned to the area as a teacher of social sciences at Deland High, which included American History, Psychology, and Theory of Knowledge for the International Baccalaureate Programme. At DHS she was awarded Beginning Social Studies Teacher of the Year and recognized for excellence in education by the Space Foundation as a Teacher Liaison Officer.
